The Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai has recorded a major success after precision airstrikes eliminated scores of terrorists in the Sambisa Forest area of Borno State.
Security sources said the mission followed credible intelligence on insurgent activity around the Parisu axis within the forest.
At about 9:00 p.m. on Friday, an air asset was deployed for an armed reconnaissance and air interdiction operation over the suspected location.
On arrival, the crew established visual contact with suspected Boko Haram fighters moving tactically before converging on a concealed structure hidden under dense foliage.
The aircrew maintained surveillance, tracked the insurgents to the hideout, and executed a precision strike that destroyed the structure and neutralised multiple terrorists.
Battle Damage Assessment conducted after the strike showed several insurgents fleeing from nearby hideouts in disarray, seeking cover within the forest.
The platform continued tracking the fleeing fighters and carried out a follow-up strike on another identified hideout, further degrading the group’s operational capability.
Sources said the sustained air presence and precision engagement highlight growing air dominance and efforts to deny terrorists freedom of movement within their enclaves.
The operation forms part of ongoing coordinated air and ground offensives targeting terrorist strongholds in Sambisa Forest and surrounding areas.
