The Kano State Government has announced that all public and private primary and secondary schools would begin the Eid-el-Kabir holiday on Friday, May 22, 2026.
The Kano State Ministry of Education announced this via a statement issued by its Director of Public Enlightenment, Musbahu Aminu-Yakasai, on Wednesday.
The ministry said boarding schools will go on holiday from Saturday, May 23, and resume on Sunday, May 31, while Day schools will begin the break on Friday, May 22, and resume on Monday, June 1, 2026.

It advised parents and guardians of boarding schools to pick up their children on the approved closing date of Saturday, May 23, and ensure they return promptly on the resumption date.
The statement quoted the Kano State Commissioner for Education, Ali Haruna-Makoda, as wishing students, teachers, parents, and the entire education community a peaceful and joyous Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
