Nigerian Army troops under Operation FANSAN YANMA have rescued Amina Abubakar, the wife of late retired Major General Rabe Abubakar, during a military operation against bandits in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State.
THE WHISTLER reported that the rescue was carried out as part of Operation CLEAN SWEEP III, an intelligence-driven offensive launched in Matazu and surrounding communities following the abduction of the retired general and his family.
According to the report, troops engaged the armed bandits at Tunga village during a search-and-rescue mission.
The criminals reportedly came under heavy military pressure and fled the area.
During the encounter, the bandits allegedly shot Amina before abandoning her and escaping.

“She was rescued with gunshot injuries. Troops administered first aid at the scene and immediately evacuated her for urgent medical treatment,” a military source said.
The military said Mrs. Abubakar was stabilised by soldiers before being moved to a medical facility for further care.
THE WHISTLER added that troops have intensified follow-up operations in the area and are pursuing the fleeing bandits and suspected kingpins believed to be responsible for the abduction and attack.
The ongoing Operation CLEAN SWEEP III, according to military authorities, will continue until all criminal hideouts in the area are dismantled and those responsible are brought to justice.
