Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has pledged to intensify the implementation of people-oriented policies and deliver greater service to residents following his re-election for a second term in office.
Speaking shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared him the winner of Saturday’s governorship election, Oyebanji said the renewed mandate would spur his administration to build on existing achievements and work harder for the people of the state.
“The reward for hard work is more work. I will continue to press on the throttle and double up on our achievements in implementing policies that have endeared this administration to the people,” the governor said.
Oyebanji, who secured 319,224 votes to defeat his closest challengers, Dr Wole Oluyede of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Ambassador Dare Bejide of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), described the outcome of the election as an overwhelming vote of confidence in his administration.
Addressing journalists at the Situation Room in the Government House, Ado-Ekiti, the governor expressed gratitude to God and the people of Ekiti for the support shown at the polls.
He assured residents that his administration would continue to serve with integrity, humility and the fear of God while prioritising programmes that improve the lives of citizens.
Oyebanji also dedicated his victory to President Bola Tinubu and the people of Ekiti State, describing the election result as an endorsement of both his administration and the leadership of the President.
“I am so humbled by the show of love and the expression of confidence in our administration. We will continue to serve the people with integrity and fear of God,” he said.
The governor was joined at the Situation Room by his wife, Dr Olayemi Oyebanji, and several APC governors, including Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma; Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa; Kaduna State Governor, Uba Sani; Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum; Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo; Kogi State Governor, Usman Ododo; Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori; and Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas.
Also present were Senate Leader and Chairman of the Ekiti APC Governorship Election Campaign Council, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, first civilian governor of Ekiti State, Otunba Niyi Adebayo, members of the National Assembly and members of the state executive council.
