The teacher who allegedly flogged a student to death in Adazi-Ani, Anaocha Local Government Area of Anambra State has presented herself to the police.

The Anambra State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday, July 18, 2026.

The 47-year-old teacher, Ebere Dim, went into hiding after flogging the student, which allegedly resulted to his death on Thursday, July 16.

“Following sustained manhunt operations by the command’s Safe School Protection Squad (SSI) in collaboration with officers of the Neni Divisional Police Station, the principal suspect, Mrs Ebere Dim, has voluntarily presented herself at the Neni police station,” Ikenga said.

Ikenga said the continuous engagement with stakeholders and community leaders in Adazi-Ani helped police to achieve this feat.

He stated that the teacher is currently in police custody and will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation.

The police spokesman said the command had assured family of the deceased and members of the public that justice would be served in the matter.
