Content creator and relationship commentator Emmanuel Obruste, popularly known as GehGeh, has clarified that the wedding ceremony which went viral on social media last weekend was staged and not a real marriage.
The viral videos, which showed GehGeh and a woman dressed in matching burgundy traditional attire, sparked widespread reactions, with many accusing him of contradicting his views on relationships and marriage. Some of his family members also expressed disappointment over not being invited to the event.
After initially declining to confirm whether the ceremony was genuine, GehGeh has now revealed that it was a promotional campaign and a social experiment aimed at testing public perception.
Speaking in an interview with StreamRewind, he said the event was deliberately organised to generate reactions and address misconceptions about his views on marriage.
“We organised everything as a normal promo. Apart from that, I also wanted to see the public’s reactions,” he said.
According to him, many people had misunderstood the messages he shares through what he calls the “GehGeh Wisdom and Knowledge University,” believing he discourages marriage altogether.
GehGeh maintained that he does not oppose marriage but supports polygamy over monogamy, arguing that it helps protect men from emotional manipulation and heartbreak.
“I did not kick against marriage. I said if you must marry, go for polygamy because it guides a man’s heart from heartbreak,” he said.
He added that having multiple wives, in his view, makes it more difficult for one partner to manipulate a man, describing the practice as a tradition followed by previous generations.
The clarification comes days after the staged wedding generated widespread debate across social media, with fans and fellow influencers questioning the authenticity of the ceremony and his consistency on relationship issues.
