The Oyo State Government has invited members of the public to submit memoranda to the Judicial Commission of Inquiry investigating the abduction of 46 pupils and teachers in Oriire Local Government Area.
The government made the call in a statement on Tuesday, urging anyone with relevant information about the incident or the security response to come forward.
The commission is investigating the abduction of pupils, students and teachers from Esinele and Yawota communities, as well as the security measures taken before, during and after the incident.
The deadline for submission of memoranda is Friday, August 14, 2026.
According to the government, submissions must contain the contributor’s full name and contact details, alongside any supporting documents relevant to the information provided.
Members of the public can submit their memoranda physically at the Conference Room, Office of the Head of Service, State Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan, or electronically through [email protected].
The commission was established following the May 15 attack on three schools in Oriire, including Community High School, Ahoro-Esinele; Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Yawota; and L.A. Primary School.
The attack resulted in the abduction of 39 pupils and seven teachers, who spent 56 days in captivity before their release in July.
The victims were rescued by security agencies without any concession being made to the abductors, according to the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
Following the incident, Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde called for an independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding the abduction and the security response.
The state government said the inquiry would help establish what happened before, during and after the attack and identify measures needed to strengthen security across affected communities.
It urged residents and other stakeholders with relevant information to make submissions before the August 14 deadline.
