A Delta State High Court has ordered the remand of content creator, Ifeanyi Ogbonna, popularly known as Odogwu Asaba, in connection with the alleged rape and subsequent death of 20-year-old Favour Agbro.
Ogbonna was remanded at the Ogwashi-Uku Maximum Correctional Centre after the court on Friday, September 4, 2026, granted an application for his continued detention.
The development followed the completion of investigations into the circumstances surrounding Agbro’s death, with the autopsy and toxicology reports now made available to the police investigation team.
Counsel to Agbro’s family, Awele Ideal, confirmed the court’s decision in a statement issued on Friday.
She said the forensic reports, together with other evidence obtained during the investigation, had been incorporated into the case file submitted for prosecution.
According to her, the matter would now proceed to the prosecution stage under the supervision of the Delta State Ministry of Justice, through the Attorney-General and Director of Public Prosecutions.
Ideal, who said she was handling the matter for the deceased’s family on a pro bono basis, pledged to continue providing legal and financial assistance to ensure that the case was diligently pursued.
The remand was also confirmed by Ossai Ovie Success, Senior Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor on Media, who said Ogbonna had been taken to the correctional facility following the court order.
The case came into the public spotlight after Agbro reportedly accused Ogbonna of rape in a video recorded before her death.
Reports indicate that the deceased had travelled to Asaba after allegedly responding to an invitation from Ogbonna for a content creation training programme promoted on social media.
She was subsequently alleged to have been taken to a hotel, where she accused the content creator of raping and assaulting her.
Upon returning home, Agbro reportedly informed her parents about the alleged incident and later made a video detailing her account of what happened.
She subsequently ingested a toxic substance and died.
Following a petition from her family, the Delta State Commissioner of Police directed the Effurun Area Command to investigate the allegations. Ogbonna was subsequently arrested as part of the investigation.
The police investigation included forensic examinations aimed at determining the circumstances surrounding Agbro’s death, culminating in the release of the autopsy and toxicology findings.
With the remand order, the case has moved beyond the initial investigation, while the Ministry of Justice is expected to take over the prosecution process.
Ogbonna remains presumed innocent of the allegations until proven guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction.
