The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has released the names of its governorship and deputy governorship candidates for the 2027 general elections across 28 states.
The list features several prominent political figures, including Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour in Lagos, Isa Ashiru in Kaduna, former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, in Kebbi, and former Delta governorship candidate Great Ogboru.
Other notable names on the list are Senator Ahmad Babba Kaita of Katsina, Senator Halliru Dauda Jika of Bauchi, former House of Representatives member Herman Iorwase Hembe of Benue, former federal lawmaker Zakari Mohammed of Kwara and retired Brigadier General John Sunday Sura of Plateau.
The party announced the candidates in a statement on Friday by its National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, saying those selected would represent the party in its bid to provide Nigerians with credible leadership and a “real alternative” in the 2027 elections.
In Lagos, Rhodes-Vivour will contest the governorship with Gbadamosi Babatunde Olalere as his running mate, while Ashiru will fly the ADC flag in Kaduna alongside Kantiok Irmiya Ishaku.
Ogboru is paired with Afiari Gloria in Delta, while Kaita will contest in Katsina with Aminu Yar’adua Ahmed as his running mate.
In Kebbi, Malami will contest alongside Zagi Musa Mohammed.
The ADC candidates are expected to participate in the governorship elections scheduled for February 6, 2027, while campaigns for the polls are billed to commence on September 9, 2026.
