Four people were killed and five others injured after a Russian strike hit the southeastern Ukrainian city of Kamianske, local authorities said on Saturday.

Oleksandr Ganzha, head of the Dnipropetrovsk regional military administration, said the attack caused the deaths and left several others wounded.

Among those injured was a 30-year-old woman who was receiving intensive care, Ganzha said.

The latest attack came amid renewed diplomatic efforts to halt the war, with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky proposing a ceasefire ahead of an expected visit by US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.

Witkoff and Kushner are leading US President Donald Trump’s efforts to broker an end to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

Trump said the envoys were carrying a proposal intended to help overcome the diplomatic deadlock surrounding efforts to end the war, which has become Europe’s deadliest conflict since World War II.

Despite the diplomatic moves, Russia and Ukraine have continued exchanging long-range missile and drone strikes, with civilian areas repeatedly affected by the attacks.
