The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has announced a temporary disruption of its Central Admissions Processing System, CAPS, as institutions across the country continue processing tertiary admissions.
JAMB said the outage, which began on Thursday, was caused by technical challenges linked to the platform’s hosting arrangements.
In a statement signed by Fabian Benjamin, Ag. Director of the Public Affairs and Protocol Directorate, the board said it had begun discussions with the hosting organisation to identify the cause of the problem and restore the platform.
CAPS serves as the central system through which tertiary institutions process admissions and candidates access information relating to their admission status.
The disruption comes at a critical stage of the admission exercise, with institutions processing admission offers and candidates awaiting decisions.
JAMB said it was informing the public to prevent speculation over the cause of the outage while efforts to restore the system continue.
“The Board is particularly conscious of the timing of this disruption, given that CAPS is the central platform through which admissions into tertiary institutions across the country are processed,” the statement said.
The board apologised for the inconvenience the outage may cause candidates, institutions and other users, assuring stakeholders that it was working with the hosting organisation to restore the platform as soon as possible.
JAMB also said it would review the circumstances surrounding the disruption after the system is restored and consider measures to prevent similar interruptions in the future.
The board urged candidates and other stakeholders to remain patient, promising to issue further updates as the situation develops.
