The officers of the Ondo State Police Command have arrested a final year student of the Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), Olubodun Sanni, for allegedly killing his female colleague over an iPhone.
The female student, Adekunle Adebisi Ifeoluwa, was found dead in her one-room apartment outside the campus on February 2, 2024.
She was a 300-level student in the Department of Economics.
However, the Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Abayomi Oladipo, on Tuesday, February 13, said an investigation revealed that 21-year-old Sanni stabbed the female to death and stole her iPhone XR.

Oladipo, while parading Sanni alongside other arrested suspects, disclosed that the final year student stabbed his colleague in the chest after gaining access to her room to steal her phone.
He said the police discovered that the deceased phone was missing after the murder, adding that Sanni confessed to stabbing Ifeoluwa in the chest with a knife and stole her iPhone XR.
Oladipo disclosed that the police through the use of modern technology traced the phone to Sanni who is also a neighbour to the deceased in the hostel.
“The recovered phone led to further questioning of the suspect who gave details of what happened in his confessional statement,” the police commissioner said.
He added that Sanni would be charged to court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
