Abdul Samad Rabiu’s son earns N13.2bn dividend from BUA Foods

Khalifa Abdulsamad Rabiu, son of billionaire businessman Abdul Samad Rabiu, has received N13.2 billion in dividends from his shareholding in BUA Foods Plc following the company’s 2025 financial year payout.

The dividend formed part of the N504 billion distributed by the food manufacturing company to shareholders on July 15, with payments made electronically.

Khalifa owns 473.6 million shares in BUA Foods, representing a 2.63 per cent stake in the company. His shares are currently valued at about N444.7 billion.

His father and founder of BUA Group, Abdul Samad Rabiu, received the largest share of the dividend, earning N467 billion through his 92.64 per cent controlling stake in the company.

The dividend payout followed a strong financial performance by BUA Foods, which posted a profit after tax of N518.7 billion for the 2025 financial year, more than doubling the N266 billion recorded in the previous year.

The company attributed the growth to higher sales of key products, including sugar, rice and pasta, alongside improved cost management across its operations.

BUA Foods operates across sugar refining, flour milling, pasta production, rice processing and edible oils through subsidiaries such as BUA Sugar Refinery, BUA Oil Mills, IRS Flour and IRS Pasta.

Khalifa Rabiu was appointed Chief Officer for Global Procurement and Strategic Operations in January 2026. In the role, he oversees the company’s procurement strategy and supply chain operations, with responsibility for improving sourcing efficiency, reducing costs and strengthening supply chain stability.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in International Relations from Regent’s University London and a master’s degree in Management from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business. Before his current appointment, he worked on several strategic and operational projects within the BUA Group.
