Abia pays ₦25m for Ngozi Nwosu’s medical treatment

The Abia State Government has paid ₦25 million towards the medical treatment of veteran Nollywood actress Ngozi Nwosu, days after she appealed to the public for financial assistance to undergo surgery.

The governor’s Senior Special Assistant on Tourism and Entertainment, Justice Okey Martins, popularly known as JMartins, announced the development in a post on his X handle on Thursday.

According to him, Governor Alex Otti approved the payment, which was made directly to the hospital where the actress is receiving treatment.

“Yesterday before the close of work, His Excellency Alex Otti made good his promise by directing a ₦25 million payment to the hospital’s account where our Nollywood legendary actress, Mrs Ngozi Nwosu, is receiving treatment,” JMartins wrote.

He expressed appreciation to the governor for supporting the actress and described the gesture as an act of kindness.

Last week, the 62-year-old actress disclosed that she had been hospitalised for three weeks and appealed to Nigerians to help raise ₦30 million to cover the cost of three urgent surgeries.

In an emotional video shared on her Instagram page, Nwosu appealed to fans, colleagues and well-wishers not to abandon her as she battles the undisclosed illness.
