Adamawa APC denies endorsing Ribadu for political office

The Adamawa State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has firmly denied recent media reports alleging that it endorsed National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, for a political position during a stakeholders’ meeting in Hong Local Government Area.

In a statement titled “Rebuttal: Adamawa APC Endorses Tinubu, Ribadu”, and signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Hon. Muhammed Abdullahi, the party described the reports as a deliberate misrepresentation of the event’s true purpose and outcome.

According to the statement, the meeting in Hong was part of a wider grassroots mobilisation campaign aimed at strengthening party unity, enhancing local structures, and reinforcing collective party decisions made at the state, zonal, and national levels—particularly the resolve to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.

“Our attention has been drawn to a misleading report suggesting the endorsement of Mallam Nuhu Ribadu for a political office. We categorically clarify that no such endorsement occurred,” Abdullahi stated.

He explained that although a vote of confidence was passed in recognition of Ribadu’s exceptional service as NSA, it was not a political endorsement. Rather, it was an expression of appreciation for his contributions to national security and the pride he brings to Adamawa State through his current role.

“The commendation was strictly in acknowledgment of his performance in office, not an indication of political ambition,” the statement noted.

The party stressed that political appointments remain the exclusive prerogative of the President and cannot be determined or predicted at the state level.

“There is no basis for endorsing any political appointee. We uphold and respect the President’s authority in such matters,” the APC stated.

Reaffirming its unwavering support for President Tinubu, the Adamawa APC pledged to continue its efforts to mobilise support for his re-election in 2027.

“We stand fully behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and are committed to securing his return to office with a resounding mandate,” the statement concluded.

The party also urged the public and media to avoid spreading false information that could foster division or confusion within the party, warning that such tactics would not derail its focus or unity.
