The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a 30-year-old man, Peter Sinamai, for allegedly killing his father and dumping his body in a well in Sangere, Gombi Local Government Area of the state.
The suspect was arrested after residents alerted the police to the incident, according to the command.
Preliminary investigations indicated that Sinamai allegedly killed his biological father before disposing of the body in a well within the community.
The police said the victim’s body had been recovered and deposited at a mortuary, where an autopsy would be conducted as part of the investigation.
The Commissioner of Police, Kabiru Hassan, ordered detectives to conduct a thorough investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged killing.
The command said the suspect would be arraigned in court upon completion of the investigation.
Hassan described the incident as disturbing and assured residents that the case would be thoroughly investigated to ensure justice.
He also urged members of the public to resolve family disputes through peaceful and lawful means rather than resorting to violence.
