Troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have uncovered a suspected suicide-bombing network and intercepted logistics believed to be meant for terrorists during ongoing operations in Adamawa State.
The operations form part of a wider cordon-and-search effort aimed at tracking those linked to the recent attack at Gamboru Market Mosque.
According to security sources, troops acting on sustained surveillance carried out a coordinated operation in the Yan Lemo area of Mubi South Local Government Area in the early hours of January 5. Eight suspects were arrested, including two believed to be key facilitators.
Items recovered from the location included cash, mobile phones, identification cards, ATM cards, jewellery and other personal belongings.
The materials are now being analysed to support ongoing investigations.
A suspect already in custody reportedly identified the two principal suspects as suppliers of materials used to prepare explosive devices.
All arrested persons are currently in military custody for further questioning before being transferred to relevant agencies.
In a separate operation on January 4, troops intercepted a large consignment of suspected terrorists’ logistics at Mayo Nguli in Maiha Local Government Area.
The troops seized 45 jerrycans of petrol, estimated at about 1,125 litres, after the suspected suppliers fled on sighting the patrol.
The petroleum products have been secured pending further action. No casualties were recorded during the operation.
Security sources said the latest actions demonstrate OPHK’s continued effort to disrupt terrorist networks, block logistics supply routes and prevent future attacks.
