Adeleke appoints Davido as Osun Sports Trust Fund chairman

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has appointed his nephew, Afrobeats star David Adeleke, fondly called Davido, as the chairman of the Osun Sports Trust Fund.

The Osun State Deputy Governor and Commissioner for Sports, Kola Adewusi, announced Davido’s appointment while meeting with the state chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria on Wednesday, October 22, 2025.

Adewusi, who explained that Davido did not hesitate in accepting the appointment, quoted the singer as expressing his believe that he will attract funds that will impact Osun sports positively.

The commissioner added that plans are in advanced stages towards the establishment of the Osun State Sports Commission, which will serve as a central body for sports administration, development, and policy implementation.

According to the Osun State Government, the singer’s appointment is part of broader efforts to reposition sports in the state and ensure the completion of the ongoing renovation of the Osogbo Township Stadium, which is expected to meet Olympic standards once finalised.

Davido also confirmed the appointment via a post on X on Wednesday.

“Let’s get to work Governor Ademola Adeleke Your Excellency 🇳🇬,” he wrote.
