Heavy rainfall on Tuesday triggered severe flooding in several parts of Adamawa State, leaving many communities submerged.
The downpour, which lasted for over five hours, inundated homes in Yola North and Yola South, with residents of Police Barracks, Karewa, Jambutu, Rumde Baru, and Bachure among the worst affected.
One resident, Ojoma Yusuf, said she was shocked that despite living in a highland area of Yola, floodwaters still entered her home. “Water filled my rooms and destroyed some of my documents,” she lamented.
The Police Public Relations Officer in Adamawa, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, disclosed that Commissioner of Police, CP Dankombo Morris, had deployed marine police to carry out rescue and emergency operations.
Nguroje added that the Commissioner personally visited affected areas including Limiwa, Rumde, Shinko, and Jambutu to assess the damage and coordinate relief efforts.
