Air training command wins NAF inter-command sports competition in Kaduna

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Headquarters, Air Training Command (ATC), Kaduna, has emerged victorious in the recently concluded Inter-Command Sports Competition held for NAF personnel serving in Kaduna.

The week-long sporting event, which wrapped up on Friday, featured 678 athletes competing across a variety of disciplines including football, volleyball, basketball, tennis, badminton, taekwondo, judo, and a combat race.

Participants were drawn from six different groups: Air Training Command, Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), 401 Flying Training School Kaduna, 453 Base Services Group, and 461 Nigerian Air Force Hospital.

After days of intense competition, the ATC group claimed the top position, with AFIT finishing in second place and the 453 Base Services Group securing third.

He emphasized that the competition was not only about winning but about fostering unity, discipline, and physical fitness within the force.

AVM Dari highlighted the role of sports in enhancing combat readiness and building esprit de corps among personnel.

He congratulated all participants, especially those who distinguished themselves, and commended the commanders and commandants of co-located NAF units in Kaduna for their support.

He announced that outstanding performers would be selected to represent the command and the NAF in upcoming national and military sports tournaments. He also reaffirmed his commitment to promoting sports development within the command.

The AOC reminded all personnel to remain security conscious, uphold military ethics, and stay apolitical in their conduct. He expressed appreciation to the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, for his consistent support for sports initiatives in the Air Force.

The successful conclusion of the intra-command sports competition underscored NAF’s commitment to the well-being, discipline, and operational readiness of its personnel through physical fitness and teamwork.
