AIU clears Tobi Amusan of anti-doping violation

The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) has cleared Nigerian athlete, Tobi Amusan, of an Anti-Doping Rule Violation (ADRV).

Amusan has now been cleared to compete at the 2023 World Athletics Championships scheduled to commence in Budapest, Hungary, on Saturday, August 19, 2023.

AIU made this known in a statement on Thursday, August 17.

It stated: “A panel of the Disciplinary Tribunal, by majority decision, has today found that Tobi Amusan has not committed an Anti-Doping Rule Violation (ADRV) of three Whereabouts Failures within a 12-month period.”

Amusan was in July charged with an alleged rule violation for missing three drug tests in 12 months.

She set the current world record for the women’s 100m hurdles of 12.12 seconds at the 2022 World Athletics Championships.

The athlete, on July 16, 2023, set a new record as she won the 100 metres hurdles in the Wanda Diamond League at the Silesia Stadium in Chorzo, Poland.
