Senate President Godswill Akpabio has filed a N200 billion defamation suit against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Kogi Central.
Akpoti-Uduaghan announced the development on Friday via her Facebook page, citing court case FCT/HC/CV/3356/2025, currently before Justice U. P. Kekemeke of the Federal Capital Territory High Court.
She described the lawsuit as an opportunity to present her side of the matter, noting that the Senate Committee on Ethics and Privileges had previously declined to hear her explanation.
In the suit, Akpabio alleges that Akpoti-Uduaghan made false, malicious, and damaging statements portraying him as a sexual predator, which he claims subjected him to public ridicule, contempt, and hatred.
He is seeking N200 billion in damages, as well as public retractions and nationwide apologies.
On November 6, the court approved substituted service after attempts to personally serve the senator proved unsuccessful.
The documents were subsequently delivered through the Clerk of the National Assembly.
