Alvarez, 2 other Atletico players to miss Argentina-Angola match over vaccine issue

Argentina will be without Atletico Madrid trio Julian Alvarez, Nahuel Molina, and Giuliano Simeone for Friday’s friendly in Angola after they failed to complete procedures linked to the yellow fever vaccine.

Argentina’s FA announced this in a statement on Monday.

“The players did not complete in time the health procedures related to the yellow fever vaccine, which is required to enter Angola,” the AFA said.

Yellow fever is a mosquito-borne viral disease found in some parts of Africa and South America, and travellers to those regions are required to be vaccinated to prevent infection.

World champions Argentina, who have already secured their spot at 2026 World Cup in the United States, Mexico and Canada, face Angola in Luanda.
