Broda Shaggy shot, hospitalised in Ogun

Nigerian comedian and skit maker Samuel Perry, popularly known as Broda Shaggy, has been hospitalised after sustaining a gunshot injury in the Sango-Ota area of Ogun State.

It was gathered that the incident occurred on Sunday afternoon while the comedian was filming a comedy skit under the Sango-Ota bridge.

Although the exact circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unclear, a police source who spoke anonymously said Broda Shaggy was immediately rushed to Blooming Care Hospital in the Alakuko area of Lagos State, where he received initial medical attention.

Broda Shaggy was said to have sustained the injury during the filming and was quickly taken to the hospital by members of his crew.

It was further gathered that medical personnel at Blooming Care Hospital administered first aid before referring him to Duchess Hospital located in the Government Residential Area, Ikeja, where he is currently recovering.

Confirming the development on Thursday, March 12, 2026, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, said the police were alerted by the hospital after the injured entertainer was brought in.

Adebisi said: “The hospital contacted the police to inform us that a gunshot victim had been brought to their facility.

“Detectives and a patrol team were immediately deployed to the hospital, where it was discovered that the victim was a skit maker and social media influencer known as Broda Shaggy. He was on a stretcher with a gunshot wound on his thigh.”

She added that the incident occurred in Sango-Ota, which is outside the jurisdiction of the Lagos State Police Command, but investigations are ongoing.

Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the Ogun State Police Command, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, said the incident had not yet been officially reported to the command.
