Amobi Ezeaku resigns as NPFL Club Owners Association secretary

The Secretary of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Club Owners Association, Amobi Ezeaku, has resigned from his position.

Ezeaku, who also serves as the General Manager and Chief Executive Officer of Rangers International FC, confirmed his resignation in a statement posted on his verified social media platforms.

In the statement, the football administrator expressed appreciation to members of the association for the opportunity to serve, explaining that his decision was driven by the need to focus on other responsibilities while continuing to contribute to the development of Nigerian football.

He stated that stepping down from the secretariat role would allow him to devote more attention to his professional commitments and broader interests within the football ecosystem.

Ezeaku noted that his resignation should not be interpreted as a withdrawal from football administration, adding that he remains committed to supporting the growth of the sport in the country.

He also thanked his colleagues in the association for their cooperation during his tenure and wished the body success in its future activities.

The development comes amid recent speculation surrounding his future at Rangers International FC and reports linking the club’s head coach, Fidelis Ilechukwu, with a possible exit.

Addressing those concerns in a recent interview, Ezeaku reiterated the club’s commitment to continuity and stability.

“My availability as General Manager will be officially confirmed within the next 21 days. I won’t be making the decision alone.

“I have a family, supporters and I have to think about my mental health. Just give me time to clear my head,” he said.

He also emphasised Rangers’ positive relationship with other clubs in the NPFL and reaffirmed the club’s ambition to compete successfully on the continental stage.

“Our dream is to win the CAF Champions League,” Ezeaku added.

His resignation leaves a vacancy in the leadership of the NPFL Club Owners Association as stakeholders await further developments regarding his future with Rangers International FC.
