Amotekun to recruit 1,000 officers in Osun

The Osun State Government has approved the recruitment of 1,000 Amotekun Corps officers to boost security in the state.

The commander of the corps, Dr Isaac Omoyele, disclosed this while speaking with newsmen in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, on Tuesday, January 21, 2025.

Omoyele said the recruitment of the 1,000 officers was to complement the existing 320 personnel.

He stated that the security outfit was also collaborating with neighbouring states to ensure border security.

On the budgetary allocation, Omoyele said the Osun State Government made adequate budgetary allocation for the corps in the 2025 appropriation law to ensure effective security provision in the state.

The Amotekun commander said the state government was assisting the corps to tackle challenges such as lack of operational vehicles, weapons, and manpower, among others.

Omoyele added that the corps would continue to discharge its duties without fear or favour in Osun State.
