The Anambra State Government has disclosed the reason behind the demolition of the Mountain of Holy Ghost Intervention and Deliverance Ministry owned by controversial Prophet Chukwuemeka Ohanaemere, well known as ‘Odumeje’ in Onitsha on Thursday.
The state government, in a statement issued by Mr Christian Aburime, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Charles Soludo, said it commenced the demolition of illegally constructed buildings earlier marked for demolition.
Aburime said several illegal buildings along the waterways in Fegge and environs of Onitsha would be demolished.
“The exercise which began from Bida Road by Modebe Avenue, Fegge, Onitsha, is expected to be extended to other parts of the town,” he noted.

The governor’s aide added that the team handling the demolition began the work at Fegge area of Onitsha following the expiration of the more than two months notice served developers and building owners in April 2022.
During the demolition on Thursday, Odumeje, in a viral video, was seen being manhandled by security operatives who accompanied the demolition team following his attempt to stop the officials from demolishing his church.
The controversial cleric was severally slapped and restricted from moving to the demolition area by armed security officers.
