Anambra PDP resolves to purchase presidential form for Peter Obi

The Anambra State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has concluded plans to obtain presidential form for the former governor of the state, Peter Obi, ahead of the 2023 general election.

Obi, the running mate of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar in the 2019 presidential election, had declared his intention to vie for the PDP presidential ticket, noting that he would run for the post of Nigeria’s President in 2023 if his party zones its ticket to the Southern region of the country.

However, the National Working Committee of the PDP in Anambra State, in a meeting in Akwa, the state capital on Thursday, said the NWC members have resolved to purchase the party’s presidential nomination form for the former governor.

The NWC added that it has also resolved that the party congresses as already scheduled to commence from February, 19, 26, and March 5, 2022, for wards, local governments and state, should be implemented as planned.

The Anambra PDP National Working Committee added that the decision to commence the congresses as scheduled was occasioned by “a rare show of leadership ability displayed by the former governor of Anambra State and leader of the party in the state His Excellency Mr Peter Obi who created room for members to vote for or against the scheduled date.”

“In view of this development, the Anambra State party congress has been officially endorsed by the party leadership in the state to hold as from February 19th, as scheduled by the NWC of the party.

“The party also urged His Excellency Mr. Peter Obi to take a shot at the presidential race, and that members would purchase the nomination form for the former governor.

“This decision of the party became expedient following a motion moved by Chief Ken Emeakayi and supported by Chief Okey Muo Aroh,” the Anambra PDP National Working Committee stated.
