Anguilla player’s dreadlocks trigger two red cards in Nations League clash

Anguilla midfielder Aedan Scipio became the centre of attention after his unusually long dreadlocks contributed to two red cards during his side’s Concacaf Nations League clash with Antigua and Barbuda.

Scipio came on in the 69th minute with Anguilla already trailing 5-0.

The midfielder’s dreadlocks, which reportedly extend down to his ankles, are so long that he wraps and ties them around his waist during matches.

Three minutes after his introduction, Antigua and Barbuda player Keon Greene pulled Scipio’s hair and was shown a straight red card.

Another Antigua and Barbuda player was later sent off after also pulling the Anguilla midfielder’s dreadlocks.

The two dismissals left Antigua and Barbuda with nine players on the pitch.

The bizarre sequence quickly drew attention online, with Scipio’s distinctive hairstyle becoming an unlikely factor in the match.
