ANOH Gas unveils medical outreach, provides eye care in 11 communities

The ANOH Gas Processing Company Limited (AGPC) has launched the second edition of its “Sight First” medical outreach programme, aimed at restoring the sight of community members in the company’s host communities in Assa, Owerri, the Imo State capital.

The ANOH Gas made this known in a statement on Tuesday, December 17, 2024.

The company said the “Sight First” initiative is AGPC’s fully funded Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, dedicated to providing vital eye care to those in need across its operational areas, covering 11 communities – Assa, Avu, Awara, Obile, Obitti, Obosima, Obuomadike, Ochia, Ohoba, Umuapu, and Umunwaku – in the Egbema/Ohaji Local government Area of Imo State.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the AGPC’s Managing Director, Engr. Effiong Okon, expressed the company’s dedication to improving community health.

Okon said: “AGPC recognises the profound importance of eye care, and our initiative today is aimed at addressing one of the most fundamental aspects of human well-being — vision.

“Through this Corporate Social Responsibility programme, we aim to provide essential eye care and vision correction to those in our communities who need it most.”

He emphasised AGPC’s long-term commitment to the initiative, saying it would be expanded into an annual programme.

Okon added: “The move reflects the company’s determination to make a lasting impact and ensure that community members living with eye-related medical challenges receive the support and care they need.

“Through this initiative, we aim to ignite vision and illuminate lives in our host and impacted communities.”

The company further stated: “By offering comprehensive eye care services to men, women, children, and the elderly, the programme ensures that no one is left behind in receiving the eye care relief deserved.

“Since its launch in 2023, ‘Sight First’ has already provided eye care services to approximately 4,000 patients across AGPC’s host and impacted communities.

“The programme focuses on promoting healthy practices, facilitating early detection, and offering treatment for eye-related issues.

“The initiative is part of AGPC’s broader commitment to giving back to the communities where it operates and ensuring that health and well-being remain top priorities.”
