Another 4 Rivers commissioners resign

No fewer than four commissioners have again resigned from Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara’s cabinet, deepening the political crisis rocking the state.

The four commissioners are Prof. Prince Mmom (Education), Dr. Kelly George (Works), Isaac Kamalu (Finance), and Inime Chinwenwo-Aguma (Social Welfare and Rehabilitation).

The Rivers State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Prof. Zacchaeus Adangor (SAN), and the Commissioner for Special Duties, Emeka Woke, had earlier resigned from Fubara’s cabinet.

Confirming his resignation via a letter addressed to the governor on Thursday, December 14, 2023, Mmom said his resignation was for personal reasons.

The letter read: “I hereby resign my appointment as the Commissioner for Education,  Rivers State for personal reasons.

“I wish to express my sincere appreciation to you for the opportunity given to me to serve in your administration and wish you the best as you carry on with the government of our dear state.”
