The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has warned that only Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres that meet its prescribed standards will be accredited to host the 2027 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The Board said the measure was part of efforts to ensure a credible, fair and secure examination, ruling out centres that fail to meet its facility and operational requirements.
JAMB Registrar, Prof. Segun Aina, gave the indication during a meeting with the leadership of the Chief External Examiners, where preparations for the 2027 UTME and the forthcoming accreditation exercise were discussed.
According to a post on the Board’s official X handle on Thursday, the meeting also provided an opportunity to assess the preparedness of examination officials and reinforce compliance with the required standards.
JAMB plans to add critical thinking, life skills to UTME
“Only centres that meet JAMB’s standards will be accredited to host the examination. For candidates, that means a fair and secure place to sit the UTME, wherever they write it,” the Board stated.
JAMB said the accreditation process would ensure that only centres with adequate facilities and operational capacity are approved to conduct the examination.
The Board added that strict enforcement of the requirements was aimed at providing candidates with a reliable and conducive examination environment, while strengthening the integrity of the UTME and reducing challenges associated with computer-based examinations.
