The Court of Appeal sitting in Owerri, the Imo State capital, has sacked Julius Abure as the National Chairman of the Labour Party (LP).
The Appeal Court, however, declared Lamidi Apapa as the LP National Chairman.
The court, on Thursday, August 24, 2023, also ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to immediately recognise and publish the names of all the governorship candidates produced by the Apapa-led National Working Committee (NWC) in Imo, Bayelsa, and Kogi states.
An Abuja High Court had, on April 5, 2023, stopped Abure, the LP National Secretary, Farouk Ibrahim, and two others from parading themselves as national officers of the party.
Others also affected by the order were the National Organising Secretary, Clement Ojukwu, and the Treasurer of the party.

The presiding judge, Justice Hamza Muazu, issued the restraining order while ruling in an ex-parte application argued by Ogwu Onoja, SAN.
Onoja had in the application informed the court how the national officers allegedly forged several documents of the FCT High Court to carry out unlawful substitutions in the 2023 general election.
The party leaders’ suspension was later lifted after the court granted an order of stay execution on the suspension.
A Court of Appeal in Benin, the Edo State capital, on August 14, also affirmed Abure as the National Chairman of the Labour Party.
