Are you saying my father wasn’t well raised? — Kogi varsity VC replies commenter

The Vice-Chancellor of Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba, Prof. Salisu Ogbo, has reportedly responded to a social media commenter who made disparaging remarks about his father.

The exchange, contained in a screenshot circulating online, followed a post discussing activities at the university.

In the post, the author said the next thing he wanted Ogbo to stop at PAAU was “Yahoo Yahoo”, a popular Nigerian slang for internet fraud.

The post had attracted 74 reactions and 42 comments when the screenshot was taken.

One commenter, identified as Valuer D Shaibu, wrote in Pidgin: “They no born am well Na him papa money be that?”

The comment questioned Ogbo’s upbringing and suggested that his position was secured through his father’s wealth.

An account bearing the name Usman Ogbo replied directly, saying: “Valuer D Shaibu really? Dem no born him papa well ba?” The response was followed by three flexed-arm emojis.

The reply appeared to turn the commenter’s remark back on his own father and reportedly attracted seven reactions.

The exchange has generated mixed reactions online, with some users describing the response as witty and restrained, while others questioned whether a university vice-chancellor should engage with comments of that nature publicly.

However, THE STAR could not independently verify that the account shown in the screenshot belongs to Prof. Ogbo.

The university had not issued an official statement on the exchange as of the time of filing.
