The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) at Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH) in Okitipupa, Ondo State, has embarked on an indefinite strike.
The branch’s chairman, Dr Oluwatoyin Ogunbamike, who made this known in Okitipupa on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, said the industrial action was a result of non-implementation of the 2025 Federal Government-ASUU agreement by the state government.
Ogunbamike said the industrial action is total, comprehensive, and indefinite until the state government implements the agreement.
Ogunbamike stated: “The agreement includes 40 per cent of Current Consolidated Salary Scale, Earned Academic Allowance (EAA), and Consolidated Academic Tool Allowance (CATA).

“Others are Professorial Allowance, Responsibility Allowance, Supervision Allowance as well as other non- monetary components of the agreement.
“Despite the state being an oil-producing one, the government of the day is not responsive to educational development.”
Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), another state-owned institution, began its indefinite strike on Tuesday, August 11, based on the same non-implementation of the 2025 FG-ASUU agreement by the Ondo State Government.
