The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has donated N50 million to victims of flooding at KaKantin Kwari textile market in Kano.
The Star had earlier reported that Kano has been witnessing torrential rainfall in the last few days which has led to flood in many parts of the metropolis including the Kwari textile market.
Atiku, who announced the donation in Kano on Monday while welcoming former Kano State Governor, Ibrahim Shekarau to the PDP, sympathised with the businessmen who are already suffering from an unfriendly business environment with economic hardship.
He said: “We want to use this opportunity to sympathize with Kantin-Kwari market traders.

“We heard that flooding destroyed property at Kantin-Kwari today. Business in Kano was established in Kano and it is still sustaining the city.
“We are going to send our N50 million assistance to the victims.”
Atiku added that Shekarau’s defection is a win for the people of Kano State, the PDP, and the country at large.
On his part, Shekarau said Atiku is the most qualified candidate to get Nigeria working again in 2023.
The former Vice President landed in Kano on Sunday alongside his running mate and governor of Delta State, Ifeanyi Okowa; Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto State, former governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido; and former Minister of Transportation, Senator Abdullahi Umar Idris; among other party chieftains.
