Security sources said the incident occurred at about 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, when a Toyota Corolla conveying passengers along the route came under attack by suspected kidnappers.

According to the sources, the assailants opened fire on the vehicle while it was in motion, forcing the driver to lose control and crash into a tree.

A patrol team later rescued three occupants of the vehicle, identified as Obinna Okorokwo, Precious Okorokwo and Ochita Grant.
