Disturbed with the spate of killings in Sokoto and Katsina states, President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday dispatched the heads of the nation’s intelligence and security services to the states.

The delegation led by the National Security Adviser, Maj.-Gen. Babagana Monguno (Rtd) is made up of the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba; the Director-General of the DSS, Yusuf Magaji Bichi; the Director-General, National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Ahmed Rufa’i Abubakar and the Chief of Defence Intelligence, Major General Samuel Adebayo.

The action is in response to the recent spike in bandit activities.

The President, according to his media aide, Garba Shehu, is expecting an immediate situation report and recommendations on actions to follow to effectively deal with the worrying situation.

In Sokoto, no fewer than 25 travellers were burnt to death on Monday by bandits. Several others were kidnapped by the bandits in the same attack.

A commissioner was assassinated on Thursday in Katsina State.
