French winger, Ousmane Dembele, has been told by Barcelona to leave immediately after he refused to sign a new contract with the club.

Football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, made the disclosure via a tweet on his verified Twitter handle on Thursday.

Romano tweeted: “Barça-Dembélé, it’s over.

“Barcelona director Alemany announces: “It’s clear that Dembélé does NOT want to continue with Barcelona. He doesn’t want to be part of our project”.

“We told Dembélé he has to leave immediately. We expect Ousmane to be sold before Jan 31.”

Dembele, who would be out of contract in the summer, would be available on a free transfer if he finishes the season with Barcelona.

The 2018 World Cup winner had turned down Barcelona’s attempt to sign him to a new deal as the terms on the new offer were lower than his current contract.

Dembele, who has been left out of Barcelona squad for Thursday’s Copa del Rey match against Athletic Bilbao, joined the Spanish giants in 2017 from Borussia Dortmund for £135m a few weeks after Neymar’s world-record departure to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).

The 24-year-old winger has struggled with injuries for much of his time since he joined Barcelona as he has started just six matches this season with one goal.
