Basketmouth: Separation from my wife not a joke

Popular Nigerian comedian, Bright Okpocha, fondly called Basketmouth, has declared that he truly separated from his wife, Elsie.

The Star recalls that Basketmouth, on December 22, 2022, announced the end of his 12-year marriage to Elsie.

The father of four said he and his wife agreed to end their marriage.

Some people however said the announcement was joke.

Speaking in a recent interview with a Ghana television station, TV3NewDay, Basketmouth said he is truly separated from his wife.

The 44-year-old comedian said: “I’m separated right now and people thought it was a joke but it wasn’t. And some people were like, ‘Do you want to promote a show?’ And I was like, you definitely do not know my design.

“I do not bring my personal matters on a public platform and put my personal things out there.

“But it was something that I needed to do and for reasons best known to me. And I did that. And yeah, we’re cool, everything is fine.”

When asked if it was before the 12 years, Basketmouth said: “No, it was actually after the 12 years. I completed the 12 years in November and that happened in December.”
