The former Head of the Department of Business Management at the University of Maiduguri (UNIMAID), Prof. Ruth Wazis, has been confirmed dead in an accident at her residence in the Borno State capital.
Confirming the incident on Monday, the Borno State Commissioner of Police, Yusuf Lawal, said the incident occurred on Sunday, June 30, 2024.
Lawal disclosed that as the lecturer was parking her car in her garage, a sudden mechanical malfunction caused the vehicle to accelerate unexpectedly, knocking her on the ground and stepping her chest.

The police commissioner stated that Wazis succumbed to her injuries before being taken to the hospital.
Lawal added that the lecturer’s remains had been taken to the hospital by members of her family.
