The immediate past Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Sen. Godswill Akpabio, has been elected as the President of the 10th Senate.
Akpabio, the preferred candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), defeated a former governor of Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yari, to emerge as the Senate President in an election held in Abuja on Tuesday, June 13, 2023.
The senator representing Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District polled 63 votes, while Yari garnered 46 votes.
