The residents of Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, were thrown into panic and confusion on Tuesday evening following an explosion in the ancient city.
It was gathered that the residents scampered for safety after a loud bang was heard and vibration was felt across several locations in Ibadan at about 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday.
The exact cause and location of the explosion were yet to be ascertained as of the time of filing this report.
Confirming the incident, the Oyo State Government, in a post on its X account, said: “The Oyo State Government is aware of reports of an explosion in Ibadan. Residents are urged to remain calm as security agencies are investigating this to determine the source and cause of the incident.”
