Newcastle midfielder, Sandro Tonali, has been banned for 10 months for betting on football while playing for AC Milan in Italy.
Tonali will also be required to undergo treatment for a gambling addiction.
The Italian Football Federation (FIGC), on Thursday, October 26, said Tonali, who joined Newcastle United from AC Milan this year, must attend treatment sessions for problem gamblers and give a series of talks about his experience over a further eight-month period.
The ban would see Tonali miss the rest of the Premier League season and Euro 2024, should Italy qualify. He will not be available for action until August 2024.
The player will also pay a €20,000 fine but he is free to train with Newcastle and play in friendlies.

The 23-year-old midfielder had admitted to betting on AC Milan matches while a player at the Italian club.
Tonali, in a hearing at the Italian Federation in Turin on October 17, admitted to making bets on AC Milan to win games.
He admitted to betting on matches – both in which he played and didn’t play – for Milan to win.
He was one of the players named in an Italian football betting probe this month, and was withdrawn from the senior men’s squad against England.
The midfielder is the second Italian player to be banned from football in a betting scandal that came to light during the recent international break.
Juventus’ Nicolo Fagioli was suspended for seven months by the FIGC’s disciplinary tribunal earlier this month.
