Sevilla have sacked Jorge Sampaoli as the manager of the club.

Sevilla announced Sampaoli’s sack via a statement on Tuesday.

The club stated that Sampaoli was sacked after losing to Getafe on Monday.

The statement read: “Sevilla FC have today relieved Jorge Sampaoli of his duties.

“Following yesterday’s defeat at Getafe, which leaves the side just above the relegation zone, the club have decided to part ways with the Argentine coach ahead of the international break.

“Jorge Sampaoli has now concluded his second spell at Sevilla FC with a total of 31 matches since taking over from Julen Lopetegui – nineteen in LaLiga, three in the UEFA Champions League, four in the UEFA Europa League, and five in the Copa del Rey.”

The Argentine won 13 matches, drew six, lost 12, and secured Sevilla’s place in the Europa League quarter-finals.

“Sampaoli will no longer lead today’s training session, scheduled for 18.00, while the club is already working on recruiting a new coach as soon as possible.

“Sevilla FC would like to thank Jorge Sampaoli for his dedication and commitment at the club and wish him the best of luck in his future,” the club added.
