Buhari: I did my best, Nigerians too hard to govern

Former President Muhammadu Buhari says Nigerians are “extremely difficult” to be governed.

Buhari said this in an interview with the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA).

The former president, however, said he did his best in the eight years that he governed Nigeria.

He said: “God gave me the opportunity to serve my country, but I did my best. But whether my best was good enough, I leave for people to judge.

“Nigerians are extremely difficult. People know their rights. They think they should be there, not you.

“So, they monitor virtually every step. And you have to struggle day and night to ensure that you are competent enough.”

The Star recalls that the former president, in his Eid-el-Kabir message in June 2023, said leading Nigeria is one of the hardest challenges in life.

Buhari, who urged Nigerians to support President Bola Tinubu’s administration, said: “Leading a country like Nigeria is one of the hardest challenges in life and urged Nigerians to fully support the Tinubu administration to succeed and that leadership is a challenging task that demands the sacrifices and support of the citizens.”

Buhari served as Nigeria’s President between 2015 and 2023.
