Buhari’s legacy’ll endure in Nigerians’ hearts, says Uba Sani

Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has described the late former President Muhammadu Buhari as a patriotic leader whose legacy will continue to inspire generations of Nigerians.

In a condolence message issued shortly after Buhari’s passing on Sunday, July 13, 2025, Sani said the former president lived a life of service, integrity, and sacrifice.

“President Muhammadu Buhari, was a towering figure in our national life: he was a soldier, statesman, reformer, and, above all, a beloved leader of the people,” Sani said.

The governor hailed Buhari’s unwavering dedication to public service, particularly his “bold stance against corruption and his consistent focus on justice and fairness.”

He added: “His courage in confronting corruption and insisting on accountability in public life inspired millions.

“A man of Spartan simplicity and deep faith, he remained grounded in the values of justice and fairness, always aligning himself with the hopes and struggles of the ordinary Nigerian the talakawa, whom he championed with conviction.”

Despite his background as a military general, Buhari chose the democratic path, a decision Sani said reflected his deep belief in the will of the people.

The governor stated: “Though a military General, he chose the difficult path of democratic reinvention. He believed deeply in the rule of law, due process, and the supremacy of the people’s will.

“He taught us that strength is not only measured in force, but in restraint; not only in command, but in character.”

Governor Sani also described Buhari as more than a political figure to the people of Kaduna State.

“To us, he was more than a leader — he was a moral compass, a father figure, and a steady voice in times of uncertainty.

“His legacy will live on in the ideals he upheld, the institutions he strengthened, and the millions he inspired.”

The governor extended condolences to President Bola Tinubu, Buhari’s family, the government, the people of Katsina State, and all Nigerians mourning the former leader’s death.

He said: “We pray that Almighty Allah, in His infinite mercy, grants President Muhammadu Buhari eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus.

“May He also grant comfort and strength to the bereaved and to a nation now united in remembrance.”
