President Muhammadu Buhari’s frontline political singer, Dauda Kahutu, popularly known as Rarara, has renounced his support for the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State, Nasiru Gawuna.

He, however, declared his readiness to support the gubernatorial candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), Sha’aban Sharada, ahead of the 2023 governorship election in Kano State.

Rarara, who attended Sharada’s political meeting in Kano on Wednesday, told the gathering that “supporting Malam Sha’aban Sharada is not helping myself or the candidate. It is supporting yourself because they are in Kano and Kano needs to be saved. Sharada is here to save Kano.”

Earlier, Rarara took to his verified Instagram page, to announce that he aligned with Sharada’s political movement ahead of the 2023 elections.

“Malam Sha’aban has come to save Kano, and if he is saving Kano, he is actually saving you,” President Buhari’s political singer wrote.

Sharada was a former presidential aide who currently represents Kano Municipal Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

He recently dumped the APC for the ADP.

Sharada contested in the APC gubernatorial primary election where he alleged manipulation and irregularities by the party and Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje.

There has been speculation in the Kano APC as to why the singer refused to sing a political song for the APC gubernatorial candidate, Nasiru Gawuna.

Recently, Rarara and Sharada were sighted together alighting from a Nigerian Air Force plane this week which drew reactions on social media platforms.

It would be recalled that all young Kano politicians close to Buhari lost tickets in the APC primaries, including Sharada, Bashir Ahmad, and Ismail Ahmed.

Sharada and Ahmad vowed to challenge the party in the state over what they described as injustice.
