BUK student wins ₦35m car at MTN Pulse campus invasion

A 300-level student of Agriculture at Bayero University, Kano (BUK), Ramatu Yakubu, has won a brand-new car worth ₦35 million during the MTN Pulse Campus Invasion held at the institution.

The three-day event, part of MTN Nigeria’s youth-focused initiative “GoMAD on Campus,” brought a mix of entertainment, entrepreneurship support, and digital experiences to the BUK community.

The programme is designed to empower students while fostering innovation and creativity across tertiary institutions.

Ramatu emerged winner after participating in a series of competitions that also saw several other students go home with laptops, tablets, smartphones, and cash prizes. Her victory sparked excitement among fellow students and staff, who celebrated the milestone as one of the highlights of the event.

Speaking during the grand finale, MTN Nigeria’s Youth Segment Manager, Femi Adesina, said the initiative reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to youth development in Nigerian universities.

“As an organisation, we believe strongly in the Nigerian youth.

“We’re not just here to talk to them—we are here to support, empower, and walk with them on their journey,” he said.

Adesina added that the MTN Pulse Campus Invasion turns host campuses into hubs of music, gaming, digital innovation, and skill development.

This year’s edition has taken place across all six geopolitical zones, including the University of Abuja, University of Benin, Federal University of Technology Owerri, and the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta.

The Kano edition featured celebrity performances, a gaming village, cinema nights, and live 5G demonstrations.

MTN also provided free exhibition stands for 10 student entrepreneurs offering food, fashion, crafts, and other products.

Other prizes distributed during the event included laptops valued at ₦4 million, tablets worth ₦3 million, and assorted tech accessories, alongside cash awards ranging from ₦50,000 to ₦150,000.

Adesina further noted that MTN’s investments in scholarships for women, science and technology students, and persons with disabilities underscore its long-term commitment to supporting young people.

“This is our way of showing that we see them, we believe in them, and we want to be part of their growth.

“MTN is not just a service provider; we are a partner in their future,” he said.

Students described the event as one of the most memorable experiences on campus, expressing appreciation for the opportunities and platforms MTN provided.
