Cleric to pilgrims: Keep praying after Hajj

Kaduna State pilgrims have been urged to intensify prayers and acts of worship following the conclusion of the 2026 Hajj.

The advice was given by Sheikh Haliru Maraya, a member of the Special Hajj Committee, shortly after the Zuhur (afternoon) prayer at the pilgrims’ residence on Ibrahim Khalil Street.

According to a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Uba Sani, Malam Ibraheem Musa, about 1.7 million Muslims from across the world participated in this year’s Hajj.

The statement noted that the pilgrimage, which runs from the 8th to the 13th of Dhul Hijjah in the Islamic calendar, took place between May 25 and May 30, 2026.

Addressing the pilgrims, Sheikh Maraya said acts of worship performed in Makkah carry greater spiritual rewards, adding that devotion in the holy city is multiplied significantly.

He cautioned pilgrims against engaging in sinful behaviour, warning that even the intention to commit such acts is recorded.

Maraya also advised them to resist the urge to rush back home, describing such thoughts as distractions that could diminish the spiritual gains of the pilgrimage.

He encouraged pilgrims to remain focused on voluntary prayers, recitation of the Qur’an and supplications to fully benefit from their stay in the holy land.

The cleric further urged them to pray for Nigeria, its leaders and an end to the country’s security challenges.

He commended Governor Uba Sani for providing adequate logistics and support through the Kaduna State Pilgrims Welfare Agency, which contributed to a smooth and successful Hajj exercise.
